Internationales Trickfilm-Festival Stuttgart (ITFS)

ITFS – across-border animated films

The Stuttgart International Festival of Animated Film (ITFS) is one of the most outstanding events for animated film worldwide. The festival covers the whole spectrum of current productions in the animated lm sector, interfacing with architecture, art, design and comedy. In the GameZone the ITFS engages intensively with transmedia and the convergence of animated lm and computer games. The festival offers directors, production and distributing companies a platform to present their films to a wide audience of interested film-goers and many representatives from the industry. Stuttgart becomes the international hub of animated lm for six days and nights.

Founded in 1982, the Festival has developed into a leading event for animated lm in Germany and is regarded as one of the most important and largest events for animated film worldwide. Stuttgart‘s city centre provides a unique backdrop for the festival’s open-air lm screenings, lending them a special atmosphere. A large LED projection screen shows animated short films and popular hit films from midday onwards and makes the animated lm festival fun for all the family. In 2017, around 90,000 visitors came to Stuttgart and watched more than 600 films at the open-air cinema, Mercedes-Benz museum and in Ludwigsburg.
