Deutsche Bank in Stuttgart

Stuttgart is a modern banking centre rooted in tradition. Deutsche Bank has operated a branch here for more than 90 years. However, this tradition can be traced back much further through predecessor banks, including Württembergische Vereinsbank, Stuttgart, founded in 1869. Many ties with existing industrial companies like Daimler and Bosch, for instance, stem from this predecessor. Finally, after decades of cooperation, Württembergische Vereinsbank and its branches became part of Deutsche Bank in 1924, thus closing the circle: for 54 years earlier, Württembergische Vereinsbank had been party to the founding of Deutsche Bank.

In the ensuing years the Stuttgart branch developed rapidly – even during and after the Great Depression, with drastic setbacks in the Nazi era. In the aftermath of war and destruction, the branch was revived, first as part of Südwestbank, then Süddeutsche Bank, until in 1957 Deutsche Bank was reconstituted. Since then, the main branch for the Württemberg area has been sited in Stuttgart.

The branch has grown in pace with Stuttgart’s increasing importance as a banking and stock exchange centre up to the present day, in which Deutsche Bank offers various financial services – from payment transactions and credit business, investment advice and asset management to all kinds of capital-market operations. It serves private clients, medium-sized enterprises, groups, the public sector and institutional investors. The headquarters for the Southwest region are sited in Stuttgart.

Deutsche Bank is Germany’s leading bank. It holds a strong market position in Europe and is significantly represented in America and the Asia Pacific region.
