There is certainly no more doubt that the future of mobility is electric. Besides the mega trend of electric mobility, digitisation in the vehicle and mobility sector in general is being spearheaded. The future is automated, connected and electrified. Along with its extensive partner network, e-mobil BW acts as key innovation agency promoting electric mobility in Baden-Württemberg to ensure that this fundamental technological change is shaped successfully.
Baden-Württemberg ranks as one of the German regions with the highest density of electric mobility research and flagship projects. And this is no coincidence. The federal state decided at an early stage to adopt a strategic approach to this important subject. In line with this, e-mobil BW GmbH was founded as the state’s own agency for electric mobility and fuel cell technology. Since 2010 it has been consistently pushing ahead with the subject, taking special account of the many small- and medium-sized enterprises. An important role is also played by the research alliances coordinated by e-mobil BW, the Cluster Electric Mobility South-West and Cluster Fuel Cell BW. Within these, well over 160 stakeholders from industry, science and the public sector work together to promote the industrialisation and market launch of electric mobility.
Combining automated driving and electric mobility offers huge ecological and economical potential.
The subjects of the many projects range from inductive charging and efficient battery production to fuel cell drives for juggernauts. The clusters also pave the way for new alliances. In the “intelligent move” working group companies – including global car makers and suppliers, mobile providers and the proverbial start-up – team up to seek innovative solutions for emission-free mobility. Close cooperation with town councils is another important aspect of e-mobil BW’s mission. In doing so, it pursues a regional strategy to widely introduce electric mobility throughout Baden-Württemberg and enhance quality of life.
