The Porsche Museum

The Porsche Museum has been presenting automotive history and ’Fascination Porsche’ in an incomparable style ever since 2009. The impressive building is located in the heart of the company’s home city of Zuffenhausen and was designed by the Delugan Meissl architectural firm of Vienna.

Numerous fans from across the globe have had an opportunity to experience ’the Porsche idea’ up close here. On the spacious exhibition area, around 80 vehicles and various smaller exhibits transport visitors into the fascinating history of Porsche. In addition to world-famous automotive icons such as the 356, 550, 911, and 917, technical masterpieces by Professor Ferdinand Porsche from the early days of the 20th century are also on display. The exhibits are continually changed, which contributes to the dynamism of the exhibition space. It is also dynamic because over 90 per cent of the vehicles are still in drivable condition and are used as a ’mobile museum’ at historical race events and presentations worldwide. Visitors can experience live how Porsche classic cars are restored in the museum workshop and prepared for races.

As a living automobile museum, the Porsche Museum presents a number of special exhibits on special topics or special anniversaries every year. Special interactive highlights include the 12-metre-long multi-touch wall, which entices each visitor to individually interact with it to time travel through automotive history with around 3,000 images, drawings, posters, and advertisements. Starting in spring 2016, another highlight will be the ’Porsche in the Mix’ sound installation, which offers visitors an acoustic experience they can control themselves.

The Porsche Museum receives visitors from Tuesday through Sunday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.. Film footage and mobile audio guides – with special audio guides available specifically for young museum visitors – provide more in-depth information. The museum is also the starting point for factory tours.
