Space for
creativity

Since the 1960s artists like Joseph Beuys or Bruce Naumann have often explicitly addressed the myth of the artist’s studio. Many artists regard their studios as a place of self-reflection and the consideration of artistic strategy.

So it is little wonder that lightfilled studios still bring forth creative ideas. The Stuttgart Centre of Media, Art and Innovative Services [Zentrum für Medien, Kunst und innovative Dienstleistungen (MKI)] is home to creative minds from a wide range of sectors. This is also reflected in the building’s architecture. The countless statues on the rooftops, terraces and forecourts of the MKI centre can be seen from afar. Start-ups and established companies including advertising and event agencies, new media, film and photo production, law offices and service providers mingle at the centre covering a space of 15,000 square metres.

The Institute for Animation, the master class for young European lm producers and many others involved in lm, theatre and related areas have their premises on the Film Academy Campus in Ludwigsburg. The Baroque town has produced many national and international award-winning films like the Oscar award-winner (for best visual effects) “Hugo Cabret” by Martin Scorsese, in which Ludwigsburg graduates were key contributors.

Baden-Württemberg’s Design Center Stuttgart provides information and advice about professional design and its economic importance. As part of the promotion of trade and industry, in particular it offers small and medium-sized enterprises guidance on current design topics, advising entrepreneurs on design implementation and product development and designers on the marketing of innovative ideas.

The Design Center Stuttgart offers companies and creative service providers the ideal platform for making contacts and networking. Exhibitions on design- related subject areas and interesting ventures, forums for product and brand communication in other cultural groups and events on current design topics demonstrate how good design optimises product quality and makes brands successful.
