Baden-Württemberg Cooperative State University Stuttgart – in German DHBW Stuttgart – with its campus in Horb is one of the largest universities in the region. It offers more than 40 nationally and internationally accredited bachelor programmes in the fields of business, engineering, and social sciences and cooperates with around 2,000 carefully selected companies and social institutions. The key characteristic of the study pro- grammes is the integration of theory and practical experience: students regularly switch between theoretical phases at the university and practical phases at their work placement. About 8,300 bachelor students are currently enrolled at DHBW Stuttgart, which is one of nine locations of Baden-Württemberg Cooperative State University.

School of Social Work: many students spend a practical phase abroad

Classes at DHBW Stuttgart comprise no more than 30 students. All students are employed by one of the corporate partners and receive a monthly salary throughout the entire programme. The incorporation of practical skills ensures that students are prepared for their future profession and are highly employable. Immediately after graduation, about 80% of graduates are accepted into permanent employment by their corporate partner.

DHBW Stuttgart further maintains strong partnerships with numerous universities and companies abroad, ensuring that many students have the opportunity to complete a part of their coursework abroad.

School of Engineering: the acquisition of practical skills is part of the curriculum

At the Center for Advanced Studies (CAS), DHBW offers cross-location master programmes. The job-integrated programmes are open to students with at least one year of full-time professional experience and a bachelor’s degree.

In accordance with the dual concept of the university, practical research is conducted at DHBW Stuttgart. All schools maintain training and research centres and focus on various fields of research.
