The core market is machine and plant engineering. Other key markets are the food industry, energy sec- tor and mobility. There is also an increasing demand for turnkey solutions: as a manufacturer of cables, connectors and other cable system components, Lapp Group can generate unique added values for its customers.

Lapp offers customised connection solutions for its key markets. New solutions are continuously developed and tested in the group’s technology and technology centres in Europe, the USA and Asia. Lapp can also draw on the expertise of Lapp Engineering in Cham, Switzerland, where material scientists develop new plastic compounds. In 2016, Lapp Group was awarded the TOP 100 seal for innovative power, thus ranking Lapp among the innovation elite. In 2016, Lapp also won an award in the medium-sized business category as most family-friendly enterprise in the “Success Factor Family” competition of the German Federal Ministry of Family Affairs.

The Lapp Group success story began 60 years ago in a garage in Stuttgart-Vaihingen. Back then Oskar Lapp (1921– 1987) developed the first industrially produced control cable and with his wife Ursula Ida Lapp founded U.I. Lapp KG. They called their invention by the brand name ÖLFLEX®, which today still stands for particularly oil-resistant and flexible cables. Today the group unites the structure of a global group of companies with the unique strengths of a family-run enterprise. The high degree of continuity and stability afforded by the owning family, combined with dedicated customer-centricity, innovative power and consistent brand policy are vital for company success. The third generation of the family is already actively involved in the company.

Worldwide the family-run company employs 3,440 people with more than 17 production sites and 40 sales companies, and cooperates with around 100 foreign agencies.
