Lightweighting makes an ongoing contribution to retaining the market advantage of the research and industry sector in Baden-Württemberg. Leichtbau BW GmbH, based in Stuttgart, supports companies and research institutes in improving the economic potential of lightweight technologies. The agency was founded by the state. It represents what is probably the world’s largest lightweighting network of over 1,500 companies, nearly 900 of them from Baden-Württemberg, and over 200 research institutions covering every aspect of the lightweight technology sector.

Offering expertise in services such as trade fair exhibitions, international business travel and contacts, information events, and marketing and PR, the state agency offers companies and researchers the opportunity to reach out to a high-profile audience both in Germany and overseas. In addition, network participants have access to cutting-edge information to assist them in setting new business and research goals.
In order to promote technical innovations, Leichtbau BW provides an open platform for project development. Project groups and other forums offer the opportunity to discuss ideas and develop new projects – and to find the right partners to help turn these projects into reality. The state agency also plays a key role in making the actual implementation of projects possible by offering sup- port in finding subsidies and means of funding. Finding the right experts in the lightweighting sector, particularly for private companies, is another area where Leichtbau BW offers a valuable service.
