Porsche sports cars –
For an emission-free future

Trailblazer
Heralding change: Porsche was the first luxury car maker to offer hybrid systems in three different model series in one go. Technology develops at a rapid pace and Porsche is committed to pushing ahead with its alternative drive concepts. Mission E shows the way ahead: it will be the first purely battery-operated sports car by Porsche. Start of production is due for the end of this decade. However, Mission E is not only an electric sports car, but also a statement – it is going to be the most sporty and technically advanced vehicle in its segment. Porsche has set its course for a successful future, investing a billion euros and creating more than 1,200 new jobs. The Zuffenhausen parent plant is to be equipped with a new assembly line for the Mission E, a new paint shop and extended body shop. The engines works are to be enlarged to include the production of electric drives.

Local freedom of emissions
Porsche regards e-mobility as a key element for the future as a leading sports car maker. A current example is the new Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid. It sets new standards in performance and sustainability. Electric motor and petrol engine form a dovetailed unit in the Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid. The electrical output of the e-motor is available from the first tap on the driver’s pedal. Up to a range of 50 kilometres and speed of 140 km/h the plug-in hybrid, which starts purely electrically, releases no emissions at all locally.

Efficiency and performance
Traditionally, Porsche transfers technology directly from motor sport to series vehicles. The current rolling laboratory is the 919 Hybrid. Its complex hybrid drive offers maximum efficiency and performance. With this combination it already won the World Endurance Championship (WEC) twice running (2015, 2016) and the famous Le Mans 24 hours; more than 5,000 kilometres of driving at the very limits on what must be the world’s toughest long-distance race, is probably the best proof of outstanding advanced technology. The commitment to motor sport is by no means an end in itself: all insights gained from racing successes are invested in the central knowledge pool for the benefit of future Porsche series vehicles.
