At home in Stuttgart – with SWSG

With more than 18,000 residential units to its name, Stuttgarter Wohnungs- und Städtebaugesellschaft (SWSG) is one of Stuttgart’s main landlords – but that is not all by any means. A strong housing association, SWSG assumes the role of partner in seeking solutions to its tenants’ living circumstances, no matter whether they are families, single persons, children or senior citizens. Affordable rents and sound housekeeping belong together in SWSG’s view.

At the city’s behest, SWSG provides adequate affordable housing. Its rents are pegged at around 20 per cent below the rent index average. SWSG owns 46 per cent of Stuttgart’s publicly subsidised housing. At the same time, the company constantly develops its property ownership: every year, SWSG builds around 300 new apartments, many of which are subsided. And it also modernises a similar amount every year – thus decisively contributing to the housing market in Stuttgart with accommodation that is modernly furnished and yet affordable.

Aside from this social remit, SWSG fulfils important urban development assignments. In recent years it has built three completely new residential centres for very different areas of the city. Its projects create a sense of identity, their flair reaching far into the relevant districts. Diversity in the various areas ensures attractive living surroundings, which together with modern housing enhances Stuttgart’s quality of life.
